Slack Team

Our goal is to gather as many people from the GP startup community into one place where they can meet others that hold similar values, discuss ideas, give advice, and talk about their ventures. Our hope is that Slack will be able to enable connectivity within our startup community.

To join, fill out the form below with your name and email address, and you should get an invitation sent to your inbox shortly.

 Slack Best Practices

  1. Identify yourself
Pick a username that is recognizable by others. In this Slack team, please type your first name.last name with no spaces (e.g. jane.doe). Then, upload a photo of yourself for your profile and type in what you self-identify as in your bio:

    • entrepreneur
    • investor
    • mentor
    • service provider
    • supporter
  2. Download apps
To get the most out of Slack, download the app on your desktop and/or on your phone. This way, you can stay current without having to pull up Slack in a browser window.
  3. Use channels
There are messaging channels that users can switch between that keep our discussions organized. Use them! You will be automatically added to few, and you can pick other conversations that you want to be a part of. You can also direct message other users that you want to talk to privately.
  4. Be a good community member
Be positive and initiate good conversation. This is not a marketing or promotional channel. We are protective of this community and reserve the right to revoke membership from those that behave poorly.
  5. Make it your own
Notifications are customizable so you can decide if, when, and how you what to receive them. You can choose to join, leave, show and hide channels when you want to. You can even change the sidebar colors if you feel like it.

Remember, Slack is a tool. You ultimately decide how our Slack team will operate, and you will get out of it what you put into it. We hope you have some fun with it, too!
